“SuperTuscan” describes some of the most innovative and superlative red wines from Tuscany. We are so happy to be able to offer you this example made by innovative female organic winemaker Ginevra Pesciolini. “Pretty delicious” is how Master of Wine, Jancis Robinson described it. Ideal for a dinner party with vegetarian or vegan guests, this rich bold vegetarian & vegan red wine complements dishes made with pulses and squashes, particularly if they are roasted.

Tenuta di Ghizzano SuperTuscan Veneroso 2016

An excellent dinner party wine. Or a special occasion which cries out for a rich red wine. A real winter warmer, great for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner. This wine not only pairs with beef, but also lamb, chicken & turkey, veal, and cured meats. Great vegetarian and vegan wine that complements dishes made with pulses and squashes, particularly if they are roasted.

Pretty delicious! Everything in harmony. The texture of a luxurious Napa Cabernet Sauvignon and the tang, flavour, and refreshment of well-grown organic Sangiovese. Well done!” so said Jancis Robinson. We agree. Delicious red cherry and plum with rich black fruits and smooth tannins.

Producer Profile

Tenuta di Ghizzano

The Venerosi Pesciolini family settled near the Tuscan coast in the beautiful hills near Pisa in the late 14th Century. They started bottling wine for sale (rather keeping their wines for themselves) in 1985, went organic in 2008 and have biodynamic certification from their 2018 vintages. Their wines are also certified vegetarian and vegan.

Now in the hands of Ginevra Pesciolini, her philosophy involves blending new innovations with traditional methods. Using natural, wild yeasts and pressing the grapes under foot. Moving to larger format oak casks for better tannin integration and flavour development and reducing the amount of new oak in her SuperTuscan wine, Veneroso. Her wines regularly wine awards.
